GFSI Audit, Day 1

As part of our continued efforts to achieve awesomeness, we are are knee-deep in our GFSI recertification.   This is not for the faint of heart, which shows by the very limited number of coffee roasters nationwide who hold this prestigious certification–and the chaos of binders on the table, which is about 20′ long.     The inspector will verify every aspect of how we manufacture, transport, train, and operate on a daily basis to ensure that we are adhering to these very strict standards.  We will also have to show how we can trace back every batch of coffee to verify that what we say is in the bag…is actually in the bag.   This is our second year doing this, which has been 100% by our choice.  We have a FT in-house auditor/compliance manager and a FT employee at the warehouse to manage to these standards. 

Traceability, food safety, continued improvement, best practices, etc–that’s how we roll!  We don’t rely on grandiose claims, marketing hype or cutesy tag lines.   We are authentic and passionate about what we do and it shows in the cup!
