MAYORGA COFFEE EXPANDS ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH COSTCO WHOLESALE

Rockville, MD – May 13, 2011– Maryland-based Mayorga Coffee announces its continued  expansion with Costco Wholesale through distribution to their club locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Mayorga began their relationship with Costco Wholesale in 2001 with distribution to one store in Gaithersburg, MD.  Since then Mayorga added one club at a time into locations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire.  With this current Southeast expansion, Mayorga Coffee is available in Costco Wholesale locations through a total of 16 states on the eastern seaboard.

“We value our relationship with Costco Wholesale tremendously.  Their buying team was able to appreciate our dedication to quality and freshness at a very early stage in our business and they have been instrumental in our growth.  Our partnership with them is exemplary of how a major national group and a quality-focused manufacturer can work together to offer consumers quality, freshness, and value,” explains Martin Mayorga.

Costco Wholesale offers Mayorga’s signature Organic Café Cubano in their locations. In addition, Mayorga’s traveling roadshow staff, the Brew Crew, offers a selection of the company’s most popular varieties to Costco locations on a rotating basis.  Visit Mayorga’s Roadshow Schedule for a listing of upcoming events.

We just updated our offerings to the following. Unfortunately Ethiopian Yirgacheffe isn’t included in this list. Try our Mocha Java – it will be the most similar.
    Enjoy!

    Black & Tan Blend
    Roast: Light and Dark Roasts
Flavor Profile: Full body with hints of cocoa and a bold stout finish.
About: Do you love the sweet smokiness of a dark roast and also appreciate the syrupy, cinnamon notes of a light roast? Now you can have them simultaneously! Our Roastmaster has blended our popular Organic French Roast (dark) with a nice Organic Mexico Chiapas (light). Unlike most of our blends, each of these coffees is roasted to separately and blended after roasting. The result is a uniquely balanced coffee with a wide spectrum of flavors and a rich, but mellow finish.

Decaf Mountain Water Process French Roast (RA Certified)

    Roast: Dark
Flavor Profile: Medium body with a bold sweet smokiness and a caramelized-sugar finish.
About: This bold, dark blend of coffees from Nicaragua has a wonderful smokiness resulting from our slow roasting process. This process draws out the rich oils from deep within the beans. This coffee has a wonderful confluence of smokiness and liqueur in the cup without an overpowering smokiness, which is the downfall of lesser French Roasts.

    Guatemala Valle Verde (RA Certified)
Country: Guatemala | Region: Santa Rosa | Co-Op: Valle Verde
    Roast: Medium
Flavor Profile: Medium to full body with balanced spiciness, tangy cocoa flavor, and a bold finish.
About: Coffee trees were introduced to Guatemala in the 1700s by Jesuit priests but the industry didn’t take hold until further developed by German settlers in the late 19th century. This coffee comes from small producers of Mayan decent in the highlands of Santa Rosa between Mataquesquintla and Jalapa.

    Hawaiian Hazelnut (RA Certified)
    Roast: Medium
Flavor Profile: Medium body with buttery notes and hints of toasted hazelnuts, with a creamy finish.
About: Using the flavor of rich hazelnuts cultivated from Hawaii, we have developed a version of the classic flavored coffee that is buttery and smooth.

    Mocha Java Blend
    Roast: Medium
Flavor Profile: Medium to full body with notes of rich, earthy milk chocolate and a lingering berry finish.
About: The fruitiness of the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, complemented with the rich earthiness of the Sumatra Mandheling, is one of the oldest known blends in the coffee world. This exotic blend of the two offers a rich, deep flavor with hints of berries on the finish.

Nicaragua El Recreo Estate (RA Certified)
Country: Nicaragua | Region: Jinotega | Estate: El Recreo
    Roast: Medium
Flavor Profile: Medium body with hints of toasted almonds and a long-lasting, bold finish.
About: The El Recreo Estate is a family-owned-and-operated farm located in the high-altitude Jinotega region of Nicaragua. The estate is a leader in promoting economic and social progress while practicing environmentally sustainable agricultural techniques. El Recreo Estate coffee is a highly rated member of the Rainforest Alliance and has placed in the top 10 in the Rainforest Alliance Cupping for Quality contests. Beyond growing great coffee under the shade protection of indigenous hardwood and fruit trees, El Recreo is also committed to education. They conduct technical training courses for neighboring farmers enabling them to grow better coffee, thus commanding a better price for their efforts. In addition, El Recreo has built a school on its property to provide the children of the farm workers the important opportunity to continue their education.

When will you be expanding to San Diego, CA? I moved back from Virginia and miss the Mayorga Costco prices. Can you possibly sell through Costco online?
