Barack Obama Visits Mayorga Coffee!

Silver Spring, MD--Mayorga Coffee was honored to host Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) at our flagship retail store on Monday during an impromptu visit by the presidential candidate. The Senator came by our store during his visit to Maryland to discuss issues relating to small businesses and issues faced by the Latino community. (Surely he also stopped by because to just HAD to try a cup of Mayorga Coffee).

Senator Obama was greeted by Martin and Kerry Mayorga, along with their two children, Brianna and Nicholas. After interacting with the Mayorga children, the Senator inquired about the history of the company and listened intently as Martin Mayorga led him down the road that began with Martin's upbringing in Latin America and led to Mayorga Coffee's current success.

Senator Obama then ordered Cafe Dulces and sour cream coffee cakes for staffers. The Senator told reporters that his visit to Mayorga Coffee was important because companies like Mayorga Coffee highlight the positive impact that minority business can have in their communities.

Mayorga Coffee Roasters, Inc. is a minority-owned and operated specialty coffee importer and roaster based in Rockville, MD. The company was founded by Martin and Kerry Mayorga and has grown from two employees in 1997 to wholesale distribution throughout the East Coast and retail locations in the mid-Atlantic. Mayorga sources, imports, and roasts high-grade Specialty Arabica beans that are shade- grown, hand-picked, and produced in a sutainable manner.
