Whole Bean Coffee in a 100% Recyclable Can

Rockville, MD - In its constant effort to source, produce, and distribute coffees in a sustainable manner, Mayorga Coffee has introduced its freshly roasted whole bean coffees in100% recyclable cans. These cans are engineered with a one-way degassing valve, which allows Mayorga to package the coffee immediately after roasting and adhere to its "roast to order" philosophy.

"This is something that we've been contemplating for about four years," states Martin Mayorga, President of Mayorga Coffee. "We were concerned about consumer perception of coffee in a can and were hesitant to make the heavy investment for custom printing cans and purchasing the machinery required to appropriately package them. However, we recognized that the environmental benefits far outweighed our initial concerns and decided to go for it", continues Mayorga.

The cans, which contain 10 oz of whole bean coffee, are initially being introduced through Whole Foods locations and Mayorga-owned stores. "We are working out details and setting up this new item with some of our regional and national clients", says John McGlothlin, Director of Business Development. He adds, "This item is ideal for the grocery category. The smaller pack size puts us at a comparable size and price to other coffees on the grocery shelves. Obviously, we believe that the quality and freshness of our coffees will make Mayorga Coffee the obviuos consumer choice. The added benefit of the cans being made of 100% recylablce U.S. steel is just the icing on the cake."
